About Kasia:<\/strong><\/p>

My name is Kasia Kozakiewicz and I'm a freelance illustrator based in Edinburgh, originally from Poland. What inspires me the most is the surrounding world of flora and fauna and everyday life situations, and therefore in my art I try to focus on subjects which raise awareness of environmental and social issues.\u00a0<\/p>

Creating an illustration for Qua Vadis Africa was an amazing way to celebrate the natural world existing and being protected in Shongweni Nature Reserve. I've decided to bring some animals and plants of the area into the harmonic composition.\u00a0<\/p>

The reason I'm donating my art specifically for Quo Vadis Africa is because my heart is longing towards selfless people who spend their time and physical and emotional energy to make their piece of world a better place for both animals and people. I am Bibi, a 15 year old\u00a0hobby artist. I have always loved to draw because being able to bring my ideas to life has always fascinated me!<\/span><\/p>

Animals are very important to me, I think they are really amazing creatures and don't deserve to be mistreated by humans at all.<\/span><\/p>

I decided to donate a design for Quo Vadis Africa to help the local wildlife and people of Shongweni, reading what happens there every day really saddens me and I hope with this donation to improve the lives of animals and people living in Shongweni.<\/span><\/p>


My design was inspired by the life of lions, such beautiful and majestic animals that unfortunately are in danger of extinction, so I decided to represent life by drawing a lion with its cub. About Andrea: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>

As for why I decided to donate: I've been lucky enough to have traveled through Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana and Zambia on several occasions\u00a0and by far, they have been my favorite trips. My brother and I grew up listening to my father's stories from his travels to Kenya, the Masai people and all sorts of fantastical adventures with animals that he made up to\u00a0keep our imagination alive. <\/span><\/p>

When I finally got there, I realized that there was no way that he could convey in words just how beautiful and special Africa is. Every little bit counts. I'll never forget one of my first walking safaris in Kenya with my family. The ground started to shake and about 30 meters away, 14 giraffes passed by running. They seemed to be in slow motion. About Somebody Tall:<\/strong><\/p>

My name is Somebody Tall, I am a 22 year old visual artists and illustrator based in Johannesburg. I go by the alias \u201cSomebody Tall\u201d as a way to partially dissociate myself from my work and allow it to flourish on its own.<\/p>

The name Somebody Tall was birthed when I chose to rewrite my narrative. This was largely due to the fact that I was often bullied or singled out because of my height. Such an environment inevitably negatively impacted my social and academic life. I then turned to art not only an as an escape but also as a defiance statement to my parents who prohibited me from studying art, which I considered or viewed as a platform where I dictated what was and what wasn\u2019t. Where I could imagine the impossible and bring it to life.<\/p>

I started off using the traditional mediums of pencil and paper. In 2018 I then ventured on to be a modern artist, doing all my illustrations digitally. This allowed me to use colour freely and truly let my imagination run wild. I pride myself in my aesthetic, which combines palatable doses of surrealism and primitivism. My work is fundamentally founded upon the concept of mankind working together with nature. As humans our connection to this earth is very literal, from the air we breathe, to the very ground we tread on. Whatever theme I choose to explore, this fundamental element is consistent in all my work.<\/p>

I hope to perpetuate the idea of African art. Showing the world that being African is not an aesthetic or a trend, but a lifestyle, a heritage, and marker I am proud to bear.<\/p>

About Lyndsay:<\/strong><\/p>

South African born creative and digital artist Lyndsay Catherine is the founder and designer behind brand Ark Paper Studio. (@arkpapers). <\/p>

Embracing the future of the modern digital era, and at the same time preserving the lost papers of the past, the main aim behind her work is to resurrect the original papers of the past, bringing them back to life in a collection of captivating designs.<\/p>

Fine Art graduate Lyndsay founded the design studio in 2018 upon a serendipitous event and deep nostalgia for the rich heritage of the bygone paper age. After rescuing a discarded book from landfill, she realised that these pages would never be seen again if nothing was done to revive them in some way.<\/p>

\u201cI was appalled and saddened by the total disregard for these beautiful books and realised unless I breathed new life into the pages of forgotten books, they might never be seen again\u201d<\/p>

Ark aims to celebrate the beauty of the past papers, adding a deeper level to traditional surface pattern design, it inspires to make design more meaningful and multi-layered, serving a purpose and having the capacity to give back in the form of collaborations with various conservation initiatives pertaining to the natural world. \u201cThe word \u2018ark\u2019 essentially represents a place of refuge and salvation, prevention from extinction, a chance to live again\u201d<\/p>

The element of education and awareness is at the essence of what I hope to achieve, using my designs to give back through various collaborations with other brands and charitable organisations. I am Rabia Hoosain, I\u2019m 20 years old and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. Drawing has been my hobby since the time I was a little girl and it\u2019s always been my peace, the way I express myself. To put it in words drawing and art is my \u201cplace of refuge\u201d I would say. I use art to aid animals.\u00a0 You can read all about me in my bio section on my webpage. 20 percent of the proceeds of any sale get accumulated and at the end of every month or every second month, gets donated to which animal rescue I feel at the time needs it. I also enjoy working with Celine from the Dog Enforcement Agency.<\/p>

As for what inspired me to do this artwork - elephants and rhinos hold a very special place in my art.\u00a0 I cannot explain why - they just do.\u00a0 To know they are dying by the hundreds thanks to loss of habitat and these horrid poachers (and Asia!!!!), is just so heartbreaking.<\/p>

About Yonita:<\/strong><\/p>

I'm a freelance artist and illustrator from KZN, and I love experimenting with digital and traditional mediums. I've always been inspired by spirituality, Mama Earth and all the beautiful creatures we get to share this planet with, and I'm always open to ways I can use my skills to make a positive impact in this regard, so the opportunity to donate to Quo Vadis was a no-brainer. I think that any time we're able to be inspired by, raise awareness of, and show appreciation and care for the world around us is a win for humanity. African Fish Eagles (and eagles in general) are a symbol of power, wisdom and freedom. The species name H. vocifer <\/em>from the Latin meaning \"making, given to, or marked by noisy and vehement outcry\" speaks to the distinct and instantly recognisable call of the African Fish Eagle. Vociferous indeed. This formed the foundation of my inspiration for this design. <\/p>

Also, I wanted to create really cool looking artwork that I'd like to see on a t-shirt, haha! I settled on my usual fondness for accurate detail, and a graphic style to capture the power and beauty of this amazing predator. These raptors represent the ability to view things from a holistic perspective. From a spiritual\/esoteric standpoint, as messengers or totems, they encourage us to believe in our abilities and act with determination and foresight. I have been creating, drawing and painting since a very young age and\u00a0art\u00a0is a deep passion and love of mine. As an animal lover also and someone who see\u2019s great importance in inner and world peace, I was truly inspired to donate this design which I call \u2018Africa\u2019s peace\u2019.<\/span><\/p>


I have incorporated a peace sign in the tree, near the roots to show peace growing the African nature conservations and wildlife, with a\u00a0HazeArt\u00a0style sky design. The warm tones of the acrylic paints represent warmth and life to the painting and to the inhabitants of the African landscape.
